Westport's Community Preservation Committee authorized its chair to pay $300,000 for the Drift Road land purchase. The unanimous vote lets the Westport Land Conservation Trust close on 311 Drift Road in December without a special meeting. The grant was approved last year in the FY27 article, and the chair said the trust received its state matching money the day before.
Members also approved the Sept. 3 minutes, with new at-large member Jeff Wade abstaining, and accepted a list of paid bills, including $91,132.06 to McDonald Construction for Howland Hall. A member said the committee has "under a million" each year, with a state match that has fallen to about $126,000. Possible December applicants include a skate park estimated at $150,000 to $180,000.
