WESTPORT — The Westport Planning Board continued hearings on a nine-lot Old Harbor Road subdivision and a Central Village sensory-therapy retreat, both pushed to October 20. Engineer Tom Morris of ZN Consulting Engineers defended a flexible-frontage design clearing roughly 300,000 square feet of woods against neighbors including Rose White and Josie Woollam, who called nine houses "just way too many." A board member said bluntly, "I don't see the benefit to the town right at the moment," over whether the plan beats a by-right six-lot alternative. Separately, attorney Mack Long detailed NomeSurf's pivot from cabins to seasonal tents plus a 22-to-25-foot sensory dome for children with special needs, pending an October 14 Zoning Board of Appeals variance hearing; abutter Nicole Plant objected that "we're not talking about camping in Central Village." The board also closed out consultant fees on two finished subdivisions and endorsed two ANR lot-combination plans.
