Planning Board · Meeting of October 13, 2026

Westport Planning Board approved an after-the-fact stormwater fix for a 40,000-square-foot bus parking lot at 222 State Road. Vice Chair Robert Daylor moved approval after the project's peer-review engineer recommended sign-off, with Town Planner Michael Burris attaching five conditions, including a required MassDOT curb-cut permit and a sand-only snow management plan. Member Manuel Soares was present but barred from voting after missing earlier hearings on the file; the remaining members approved it without recorded dissent.

Separately, Burris announced the town received a $995,000 Seaport Economic Council grant, with no local match, to rebuild the Hicks Bridge boat ramp and dock. The board also previewed a 2027 bylaw draft that would prohibit large data centers, modeled on a Mansfield ordinance, while exempting small municipal and school IT facilities. "It would not prohibit those kinds of data centers because we need those for daily operations of town government and the school system," Burris said.
