Other Committee · Meeting of September 17, 2026

Westport's Bike Path and Walking Committee heard that the Northern Scenic Greenway trail remains in an aerial-mapping phase, with no route or land-taking decisions made. Chair Gail Rodericks said engineers walked the proposed route near a Sanford Road curve the morning of the meeting, and a public comment session is expected in mid-October, followed by two more sessions. Member Ed Vaughn said the project, funded under a second MassTrails grant with a June 30, 2027 design deadline, requires future town meeting approval before any construction.

Resident Rick Cormier warned of "a significant adversarial relationship" between Dartmouth residents and that town's bike committee and urged earlier public notice. Select Board Representative Sharona Tease acknowledged the town's 48-hour meeting-posting minimum "is a problem." The committee also reported its August fundraiser drew 115 participants and raised $8,000, and approved its prior minutes 4-0.
